This article provides guidance on what robes should be worn by the Bishop, Archdeacons, Area Deans, and other clergy during formal diocesan services.
To ensure consistency across the Diocese, the following guidelines apply to specific occasions:
Commissioning of clergy: The Bishop and Archdeacon shall wear All other clergy participating in the service should wear choir robes.
Laying of a foundation stone, blessing of a church, hall, rectory, or other formal occasions. The same dress code as for a commissioning applies.
Ordination services: Clergy should wear an alb or cassock and surplice, with a stole. Theliturgical colour will be advised in advance (most often white, to reflect the connection between ordination and baptism).
