This article explains who is covered by the Diocese’s travel insurance, what the policy includes, and how to declare a trip or make a claim.
The Anglican Diocese of Adelaide (the Synod) provides travel insurance for Directors, Officers,Employees, Voluntary Workers, Lay Ministers, Students, and Contract Workers who travel for ministry or work-related purposes.
This is a blanket policy, but you must advise the Synod of any planned travel before departure. The Travel Declaration Form can be found below.

Section 1: Personal Accident and Sickness
You are covered if you suffer an injury or illness while on an approved journey that leads to specific listed events within 12 months of:

Important: If you have a pre-existing condition, please contact the Synod Office or AIRS
(the Diocese’s insurance broker) before you travel.

Journey means a trip undertaken on the business of the policyholder and/or authorised by thePolicyholder provided such travel involves a destination 50 kilometres or more from the covered person’s home or normal place of business.
It starts from the time a covered person leaves their home or normal place of business, whichever isleft last and continue on a full-time 24-hour basis until the covered person returns to their Home or normal place of business, whichever occurs first.
The maximum duration of any one trip is 180 days.
The journey doesn’t include normal commuting between the Covered Person’s Home and
normal place of business.

Can I travel to dangerous locations?
Travel to some countries may not be covered (e.g. Afghanistan, Chechnya, Iraq, Somalia). If you’re unsure, contact the Synod Office or AIRS before booking.
