St. Bede’s has a clear sense of purpose that prospers by the grace of God through faith, spontaneous congregational involvement, and conviction. We are a family-focused church of positive and motivated people inspired by prayer, praise and the servanthood of Jesus Christ, and which encourages individual and collective Gospel-prompted action and innovation. Our community engagement, developed over many decades, is best illustrated by our weekly breakfast and takeaway dinner ministries to the local hungry and now underwritten by charitable trust; free clothing to those in need and at the local watchhouse; and other outreach activities that support our uncomplicated missional emphasis. In another missional example, parishioners recently distributed flyers to the letterboxes of more than 250 households in the 12 streets in the immediate vicinity of the church to invite our neighbours to Bede’s Tea, a new church-based community forum.
