Faithfulness in service 2017 – National Anglican Church code of conduct

Description

This article outlines the national code of personal behaviour and pastoral practice for clergy and church workers.

Purpose

This Code sets out standards for personal conduct and pastoral ministry. By following it, clergy andchurch workers can help ensure their communities are safe, accountable, and grounded in integrity. It encourages healing and transparency, rather than concealing misconduct.

Implementation

Adopted by the General Synod in 2004 and by the Synod of the Diocese of Adelaide in 2016, Faithfulness in service serves as a national benchmark. Clergy and church workers must be trained in how the Code applies to their behaviour and ministry. Diocesan Council may amend the Code based on recommendations from the Professional Standards Commission.
