This article outlines the grievance policy for handling conflict and complaints within the Diocese.

Overview

Open communication and feedback are essential to healthy faith communities and workplaces.Disagreements can arise in any community, including churches. To support healthy communication andearly resolution, the Diocese adopted a Grievance Policy in 2021.

The policy covers matters that arise in parishes, and also between clergy and between Synod employees.

Separate procedures show the steps to follow for grievances arising in different situations

  • in parishes: Parish Grievance Procedure
  • between clergy: Clergy Grievance Procedure
  • between non-parish-based employees: Employee Grievance Procedure

The procedures seek to resolve grievances early and have been developed to be fair, transparent, and in line with natural justice.
