This article explains when and how to report incidents that occur on church property.
When a serious incident occurs on church property, the parish may be legally obliged to report the matter to SafeWorkSA, which includes:
Notifiable incidents may relate to anyone at a church workplace, for example, clergy, employees, volunteers, contractors and members of the public.
Note that it’s an offence not to report a notifiable incident. Click here for information on how to notify SafeWorkSA.
If a notifiable incident happened on parish property, please contact SafeWorkSA immediately and copy the report to support@adelaideanglicans.com.
All incidents or accidents that occur on church property should be recorded and reported to support@adelaideanglicans.com. Ministry Support will notify the insurer in case it results in a futureclaim. Such situations may be a fall where someone is injured or a near miss where a serious accident was narrowly avoided.
If you’re not sure if an incident should be reported, use the form to record the events while they are fresh in your mind. It doesn’t need to be fully detailed, but it should capture what’s known. Email completed forms to: support@adelaideanglicans.com.
