This article outlines practical arrangements to help parishes prepare for a visit from the bishop and ensure that the service runs smoothly.

General guidelines

As the chief pastor of the Diocese, the bishop will want people to feel comfortable during his visit. You can help by taking care of a few practical details:

  • Liturgical arrangements: Please consult the bishop in advance regarding the liturgy for the service.
  • Chaplain for the visit: It may be appropriate for a member of the parish worship leadership team to act as chaplain to the bishop.
  • Preaching and readings: If the bishop is preaching, please consult him about the readings; usually, the readings of the day are used.
  • Parking: Ensure there is a convenient parking space available for the
